What should you do now?

Foreclosure/ Ejection

If you have been told your home is going into foreclosure or even if the process of forcing you out of your home (ejectment) has started, you still have options. Even if you have not been able to make your payments recently, you don’t simply have to accept the fact that you will lose your home just because the mortgage company says you will. We can help you protect your rights, no matter where you are in the process.

The first thing you need to do is to respond or let us respond for you. The clock starts ticking from the moment you receive the notice that you are being sued for ejectment. Once it reaches zero (typically 30 days after you receive the notice), a judge can make a “default judgement” in favor of the mortgage company.  If that happens, it does not matter if the foreclosure was done illegally or unfairly or if the mortgage company didn’t go through all of the steps in the ejection, the mortgage company wins.  If you don’t respond and fight for your rights, the court assumes that you agree with everything the mortgage company says!

The lawsuit or foreclosure will not simply go away if you ignore it.  The first step to staying in your home is to respond and fight for your rights.  Contact Alabama Consumer Lawyers at 205-322-1201 or via our contact page for a free consultation about what your rights are no matter where you are in the process.
